Koala habitat assessment

If you plan to build in or clear an area which council has classified potential koala habitat, you may need an assessment under SEPP44 or Bellingen or Coffs Harbour shires Koala Plan of Management.

Stage 1 is to assess the proportion and quantity of koala feed trees.

Stage 2 (if required) is to study koala activity.

Stage 3 (if required) is to plan for compensatory planting or management.

We do step 1, it is a type of flora study. Steps 2 and 3 require a fauna specialist, who we work with.
