Economy of scale

We're efficient because we're small. Nick & Jenny are building/ landscape/ interior design all in one. You only explain yourself once. The drawings are all in one format.

Customised service

You decide what you get and how much of each discipline you venture into. Some people want lots of detail. Others want a bit of help here and there. Maybe you're chiefly concerned with house design but want a bit of consideration into the garden.

What does it cost?

Short on site consultations:

1-3 hour consultations to discuss simple renovations, landscaping or colour makeovers. Hourly rate ($75) including travel.

Larger projects:

We discuss your project and draw up a contract with an hourly rate ($75/hr, GST not required) and fee cap. We break down your job into estimated labour time required for each stage. You still have price security because we establish a fee cap. Note this cap is voided if you request substantial redesign due to a change of mind.

3 BR house of moderate size & complexity, with allowance for an average amount of time exploring design options: 25hr design + 25hr drafting (3D colour)suitable for council submission.  $75 x 50hr=$3750. Capped at $5000. Includes only major materials & colours (roof, wall, floor, ceiling). Add travel time if not local. Doesn’t include structural engineering. Optional extras: BASIX (can do it yourself) 2hr. Landscaping: 2hr+. Basic interiors: Feature colours, tiles, non toxic paints, kitchen & bathroom materials: 10hr.

Full specification and drawings of all internal materials, fittings and fixtures, including bathroom, kitchen, electrical plan, lighting plan, tiling plan: 45hr. Multiply by 33% to establish fee cap.

Note this is typical pricing but not a quote, each project is priced individually. We keep clients well informed at how much time is being spent and in practice the estimated time usually turns out to be accurate.

Full landscape design (residential to 1000 sq m): colour drawings, concept, construction details, planting plan, species list, recommended contacts. 20-30hr ($1500-2275) depending on garden size & complexity capped at $3000.

Building costs: We work to a budget based on square metre rates of around $1500 (light)-$2000(heavy) enclosed ground floor area. We recommend consulting a builder during the design process to better monitor construction cost. 

On the cheap?

We won't lower our rate but can lower the hours if you're prepared to do some of the work yourself and need a coach to steer you through the pitfalls and get it through council.
