permaculture site assessment
This report was done for an Australian on a working stint in Italy. He was keen to buy some land that he thought looked good over the internet, but thought it might be wise to get someone to check it out on the ground. It was a good idea. The cost of a few hundred dollars for a report uncovered issues he was unaware of with a cost of tens of thousands of dollars.
Some issues worth covering include:
- Soil
- Rainfall
- Water availability
- Slope and ease of cropping
- Suitable crops
- Solar access
- Cost of vehicle access
- Ease (and cost) of building
- Bushfire risk zoning
- Soil contamination
- Neighbouring sources of contamination
